Birds in Focus!
Opening: 26 March 2020, 7 pm
Duration of exhibition: 27 March 2020 to 1 March 2021
Like birds themselves, feathers are a true natural wonder. Feathers provide birds with protection from extreme cold and pouring rain. They enable them to fly, and the flamboyant and colourful plumage aids communication.
Today’s birds – as descendants of the dinosaurs – colonise every habitat. Yet the coexistence of humans and birds has multiple facets. Variations such as rapid climate change, but also hunting and feeding, have an effect on birdlife. The exhibition illustrates developments, relates threats to measures and draws attention to our “feathered friends” in nature. Using numerous outstanding specimens, the exhibition shows special behaviour patterns. True-to-life models and stations for playful activities explain biological relationships. In this way, birds with their amazing achievements, astounding adaptability and comical curiosity come into the spotlight.
