PERMANENT EXHIBITION
An introduction into the folkloric show collection in the field of household items
Folk art objects from Upper Austria are on display in several showrooms, and provide a cross-section of mainly 18th and 19th century handcrafted and popular artistic creations, as well their development into the 20th century. The focuses are on living room interiors and painted furniture, ornamental household items, Sandler reverse glass paintings and the Viechtauer cottage industry, precious textile items and “goldhauben” (traditional caps) and the field of belief and superstition.
The Spiegl collection from Salzkammergut has been newly set up, while planned premises are in preparation for “Childhood and toys” and the “History of Folklore in Upper Austria”. “20th Century in Upper Austria. Art and Everyday Culture” opened on 1 July 2011.
ATTENTION: The “Spiegl” collection is temporarily closed for renovation work!
